Winemaker Alan DeWitt first met the Guglielmo family in 2002, while leasing winery space to custom crush fruit. At the time, Alan was working for Devine Consultants where he was building and managing small vineyards in the Santa Cruz Mountains and San Francisco Bay Area since 1996. It was there that he began to learn and appreciate the craft of winemaking.
In 2003, Alan joined Guglielmo Winery as assistant winemaker to George Guglielmo. Over the years, the Guglielmo brothers have granted Alan more and more creative freedom over the winemaking process, allowing him to implement new ideas and technologies.
In 2007, he was given the title of Winemaker at Guglielmo Winery.
